Barry’s Jujutsu is a martial arts club which has been meeting on Fort Leavenworth since 1995, under the direction of Frank Barry (7th degree black belt, judo). Our club caters primarily to the service members and their families who come to the area from across the United States and around the world. We meet on post at the Harney Sports Complex, in the East Gym, Martial Arts Area. However, we gladly welcome non-military families to join us on the mat.
Our adult classes focus on fighting skills for self-defense, including striking, grappling, and weapons skills. This training is intended to complement and supplement the hand-to-hand combat training of armed forces personnel as well as other martial arts training. Individuals of all levels of training experience are welcome.
Our program for children is offered through Child, Youth, and Social Services (CYSS) of Fort Leavenworth Family and Morale, Wellness, and Recreation (FMWR). Each of our instructors holds a black belt, has undergone background checks, and is certified in CPR and First Aid. Our youth classes focus on teaching self-defense and competitive judo skills.
Self-Defense for Women
Our Self-Defense for Women classes are offered through Army Community Service (ACS) of Forth Leavenworth Family and Morale, Wellness, and Recreation (FMWR), once each season/fiscal quarter. These classes are free, but pre-registration is required. You do NOT need to be a Barry’s Jujutsu student to attend. We encourage our jujutsu moms, wives, sisters, and sitters to join us. These classes focus on developing awareness, assertiveness, and fighting skills for self-defense. Follow this link to our latest Self-Defense for Women Flyer for our upcoming dates.
